Experienced Web Application Developer (Agile, PHP, JS, MySQL)

Salary: Up to £37,000 per annum depending on experience, plus benefits

Job Information:

Mayden creates web applications, primarily for the health sector. We count over 100 NHS and other healthcare organisations amongst our clients. Having already tripled in size over the past 4 years and with a continued demand for new products from our clients, we are looking for new people who like the sound of where we’re coming from, and want to be a part of it.

The ideal candidates will:

  • Be qualified to degree or postgraduate level in IT, Computer Science or related numerate discipline.
  • Be a real team player and have good self-organisation and communication skills.
  • Have commercial experience working with PHP & MySQL
  • Have experience working with a server side MVC framework
  • Be a fast learner and adaptable to change

Although not essential, experience with the following would be a distinct advantage to your application:

  • Zend Framework 2 and Doctrine 2
  • JavaScript framework such as Backbone
  • VCS such as Subversion or Git
  • Agile / TDD
  • HTML 5 and CSS 3

WordPress Web Developer

Salary: £28,000 per annum depending on experience, plus benefits
Location: Bath, Box, Wiltshire

We have a fantastic, full time opportunity for an experienced front and back end WordPress developer to work across our WordPress, network and marketing teams.

This role will suit a WordPress “ambassador” and specialist who has previous web development experience producing and maintaining commercial sites

Responsibilities will include::

  • Working with Mayden’s in house designer and our WordPress account manager to build responsive, mobile first websites for our clients and Mayden products
  • Helping our clients with their technical WordPress requests including website development, plugin development testing plugin updates, CMS etc
  • Protecting our clients’ security at all times, with knowledge of security best practices
  • Resolving multi site server issues in collaboration with our network team
  • Technical WordPress support for our marketing and creative team

Your skills and experience

You will have relevant commercial web development and WordPress experience, including:

  • Building WordPress themes from scratch to SEO best practice
  • Template creation
  • Theme uploads and linkage
  • Plugin/feature design and creation
  • A thorough knowledge of WordPress security risks and how to reduce them
  • Database management
  • Testing and validation of features and plugins
  • HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript (jQuery), AJAX and MySQL
  • Responsive frameworks such as Bootstrap
  • Mobile first responsive design
  • Table-based HTML email campaign builds and testing
  • Version Control Systems such as Git

You will also have:

  • The ability to prioritise and adapt, with good organisational skills
  • The ability to communicate technical issues in plain language
  • Collaborative skills enabling you to work across multi-skilled teams

Social Media Guru

Salary: £30,000 p.a (plus benefits) dependent on experience

  • spotting a variety of engagement opportunities on social media and flagging them to the appropriate colleagues so that opportunities can be seized quickly
  • proposing the right social media platforms for Mayden / our products and implementing suggestions and ideas about about to how to maximise them
  • understanding and maximising the use of LinkedIn and Twitter as key social media channels
  • creating, curating, and managing published content (images, video and written)
  • developing and expanding outreach efforts to our networks and new stakeholders in collaboration with the rest of the team and appropriate colleagues within the company
  • working with in-house designers to inform social media profile design elements including profile pics, thumbnails, ads, landing pages
  • working with colleagues to build our online reputation and flagging anything that requires a corporate response as necessary
  • being an advocate for the company in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate or in collaboration with colleagues
  • monitoring and keeping up with trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy
  • analysing campaigns and translating anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising social media, content marketing, SEO and social advertising campaigns

Skills and experience

You will have…

  • Solid experience in digital marketing with a very good grounding in social media best practice.
  • General digital marketing tactics and skills (preferred).
